When “Hey Ya” was released more than 10 years ago, I immediately liked it. It was rousing and energetic and just full of cheer. I wasn’t really a fan of OutKast but this song made me buy their record, the double-album Speakerboxxx/ The Love Below. The video, which mimicked the Beatle’s momentous appearance in the Ed Sullivan Show, was equally great. It was a perfect interpretation of the song.

I heard that Miley Cyrus recently sang this song in her on-going tour, with a country flavor, to boot. I got immediately curious and looked for the video. I found it, watched it, and I must admit that I liked her version. I don’t know many of her songs, but from the few that I know, I think she’s got a great voice. Minus all the posing and the antics, I think she’s one of the best singers of her generation. I will look forward to listening to what she comes up with in the years to come, when she has settled into a mature persona.

The video can be found HERE, along with a slideshow of interesting covers, courtesy of The Huffington Post.
